An Oumie's Love Is Priceless

By the skin of my teeth, I have made it in time to take part in the CSI / Scrap 365 Challenge!  I HAD to - just LOOK at this decadent palette!!
Here is what I worked on for much of yesterday.  (Again, please excuse the quality of this image.  I briefly borrowed mom's camera, but had to return it before I had a chance to take pics of this LO).
All the colours were used
Evidence : Flowers, metal, decorative border, rub on, ribbon, stamps
Testimony : I chose to use the word love in the IW
My journaling is handwritten on the back and reads:
It is easy to lose sight of others when you are in the midst of a sad life event.  My infertility was a war I raged in private - choosing to not share my feelings or discuss any aspect of it with others.  My family knew and respected this - and so, never raised the topic with me.
Whilst in the throes of my sadness, it never occurred to me that my parents were sad alongside me.  Granted, they had other grandchildren - but they wanted the dreams of ALL their children to become reality.  They wanted ALL their children to be happy.
Cue the arrival of Isabella into ALL our lives - and just WOW!  How do you find words?  The pure, raw love and tremendous healing that one little being can bring into SO many lives is just ... crazy to comprehend.
The love-bond between Oumie and Isabella is just so beautiful and so special to witness.  Mom tells her ALL THE TIME how loved and how special she is.
It is just .. magnificent.
I don't have any closies, unfortunately.
For the background, I first used some texture paste, but it wasn't white enough for my liking, so I misted with Mister Huey white over the top. Then I outlined some of the lines and I also used a script stamp randomly on the background.
Thanks for coming to see!!!

Shameless #Selfies

Another week, another CSI challenge done and dusted.
Gorgeous eh??  Orange used to be high up on my 'daunting colours' list, but as of late, I've really started to warm to it.  Especially when mixed with pink...
So here's my take on the challenge.
All the colours are there
Evidence : Polka dots, drips, wood, stickers
Testimony : I used the word giggle from the IW
My journaling is underneath the bigger image:
So although there are times when you DON'T enjoy being in front of my ever-present camera, there ARE times when you want me to "take a picture of us, please mommy".  I love that you do - because you really ham it up!
Mostly, you choose to be all 'posey' and pouty, but on this day, you were in a particularly mischevious mood and you chose to use mommy as your own personal jungle gym!
I took full advantage of the fun we were having and snapped away.  Needless to say, we were both in fits of giggles, chuckles, guffaws - with a squeal or two thrown in for good measure .... AAAAND we even did some of those rip-roaring loud SNORTS that we are both so famous for!
I just love this series of pictures of us - so nice to be in front of the camera with you.  I have even had some friends comment on how delightful these images are!
Proof yet again, that you really ARE mommy's crazy, CRAZY Goose!!!
The main wording in the title is Tim Holtz grunge board, which I lightly inked and then put on a lick of Glossy Accents for some sparkle.  The drips are Dazzles.
Thanks so very much for stopping by!!!

Our Own Stylista

Another week, another new challenge over at CSI.  LOVING this scheme - totally!
Included also with this challenge is another of Em's delicious sketches.  I'd have to say that this challenge has been one of my faves to have taken part in so far.  Every aspect thereof!
So, this is what I rustled up in my messy craft room this morning (after I managed to find a space to sit!).
Scheme : the colours are all there
Evidence : crown, flowers, pearls, ribbon / bow, solid background and jewels
Testimony : I chose the words style and hope from the IW's
Journaling (which is scribbled on the back):
My darling Bluebird.  What a character you are in every way.  Most especially when it comes to your own personal style and way of dressing.  I am somewhat convinced that you have a smidgen of OCD about you - as everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) must absolutely match - right down to your brooks!  I dare not offer you a light pink pair of brooks if you are wearing dark pink!  Heaven forbid.  I love your style!  I love how you go shopping in your Cinderella dress and accessories.  I love to encourage that about you as I know it speaks volumes of your personality.  I hope that I can make this delightful phase last for as long as possible.  I am having so much fun experiencing this side of you!
And here are some closies:
The background paper is actually embossed; I sanded some areas before misting and stamping - you can actually see where the inks and mists look darker on the areas that are sanded vs. the areas that are not.
The crown is a chippie and I really didn't do too much too it.  Just inked it with white, beige and black; then I did some embossing before finally finishing it off with pearls and some swipes of Glossy Accents.
I adore this set of shots.  I knew I wanted to use them, so I decided to change them to black and white to suit the colour scheme better.  Yes, I AM one of THOSE scrappers who like to match the picture up to the colour scheme! :-)
Thanks so much for popping by and leaving me your comments / feedback!

Face Painting

It has been a LONG while!!  Both to scrapping and to blogging.
December saw Isabella on holiday from the very beginning of the month, as well as our stint in Mauritius.  With her being at home with us, there was no way I'd find a gap to scrap - not even 30 minutes.
January was a mad rush, as it was my last month of working (for good!) - I had to prepare a multitude of 'things' for the new girl.  Isabella was also still on holiday for the most part and ... well, time just was not my friend that month.  AND towards the end of Jan, we had another robbery at our home, while we were here - which threw a spanner in the works and set me back (mentally and emotionally) quite a bit.
So here we are, mid-Feb.  January alone seems as if it was a whole year.  SO much poo to start off the year.  No matter, my chin is still held high as I embrace all the changes in our circumstances!  All for the BETTER, of course.
So on to my first piece of scrappy happiness for 2014.  And a CSI challenge it is!
So no pink for me!  How lovely to always break out of ones' comfort zone!
Here's what I threw together today.  Please excuse the quality of this image - I took it with my mobile phone, as both my camera's were stolen (the third is a bit archaic and I feel my mobile takes a slightly better shot).
Evidence : silver accents, stack something, use heat
Testimony : I used the words life and simple from the IW
My journaling is scribbled on the back:
On of the greatest wonders I have found, in raising a small person, is that pleasure, entertainment and we can be found in the smallest, simplest things.  Like face painting - of course! Definitely one of your MOST favourite things in your little life!  On this day, I watched in silence as you watch yourself - for a good 10 minutes, mind!  Not sure who was more fascinated - you or I! :-) :-)
I have no further pics, so will just tell you a little about what I did.
I embossed with clear on the background, using a mask.  Then I sprayed mist over it so that the embossing stood out a bit.  I stacked a lot of the pieces - there is a lot of dimension to this piece.
Thanks for looking - hopefully next time I will have finally got a new camera so that I have some more decent shots to share with you!
